Error getting license
License server communication problem:

E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER

Okay we are receiving this error and have several customers who are also receiving.

We have tried the following solutions and end up back at the same "Error" again

1)  Customer downloads and installs Adobe Digital Editions (mind you that they do not change machines - they are only using this on the one machine)

2)  Customer completes the installation with an Adobe ID

3)  Customer downloads a book from the Adobe Library online - (just to test to make sure they can get books)

4)  The error message appears - they click okay - but they cannot download any further

We have tried the following:

1)  Uninstallation

2)  Removal of Cache / Internet Files / Temporary Files

3)  Removal of the License Key from the Registry in Windows XP

4)  Manual Installation of the Adobe Digital Editions software from the Adobe website - setup involved anonymous activation

5)  Creation of a "new adobe id"

6)  Activation of ADE with an Adobe ID

7)  We have removed and installed several times - and the error continues to return

We're moving in the same circle over and over again -  I even tried searching the Web - but apparently can't find anything at this point, I would just like to be able to resolve this issue and fix our customers.

After a long and indepth process - we figured out a resolution on our own.  So much for putting in a case and receiving no response.

"I am getting the error 'Error getting License: License server

communication problem: E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER' when

opening Adobe Digital Editions."

This error message is a result of a several different issues:

User has installed an Adobe ID on more than one machine

User has modified the clocks on their computer

User has modified their account from a "Do Not Authorize" to an "Adobe

Activated ID"

User has uninstalled and re-installed Adobe Digital Editions, but the

installation is not being completely removed from the computer.

Resolution: Follow these steps:

Uninstall Adobe Digital Editions using one of these two methods:

Start > Programs > Adobe > Adobe Digital Editions > Uninstall

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs

Initiate Uninstall

In order to remove all remnants of Adobe Digital Editions / Adobe Adept

from the machine a "Registry Edit" will need to be performed:

Start > Run > Regedit

Search for HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Adobe > Adept and Delete the

full "Adept" folder

Remove only the structures that are under the "SOFTWARE" extensions.

This will remove the Adobe ID / License and Activation Keys

Clear any outstanding tasks that may be associated to Adobe Digital

Editions downloads

C:\data\my digital editions

C:\my documents\my digital editions

Delete any documents within these folders:

Restore > Tasks

Restore > Failed

Re-install Adobe Digital Editions

‌I was having the same problem   Had just uninstalled ADE 4.5 and installed ADE 3.0 at my library's suggestion.  They suggested borrowing another book that I had not put on another device and then downloading.  It worked and I can now borrow books again
