RDA972 Sep 8, 2009 7:39 PM (in response to Eric Addison)I believe Harm is the right man for the job.
Harm, will you be attending the show?

2. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
Harm Millaard Sep 9, 2009 12:44 AM (in response to RDA972)Yep, I'll be going the 14-th and will try to get some info on the Red developments.

3. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
RDA972 Sep 9, 2009 5:15 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)Excellent. Your mission, should you accept it, is to glean as much information about any new Premiere Pro developments as is humanly possible.
Good luck.

RDA972 Sep 16, 2009 4:18 AM (in response to RDA972)Hello Harm
I don't mean to be rude but where is that longed-for report you have been tasked with filing?
I, for one, am breathless with anticipation.

5. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
Harm Millaard Sep 16, 2009 5:46 AM (in response to RDA972)Robert,
I am sorry to disappoint you, but due to health problems, I skipped the IBC.
Nothing serious (at least I hope) but some heart problems prevented me from going. Instead of going to the IBC, a hospital visit was required. Sorry to not be able to report any news. I hope you forgive me.

RDA972 Sep 16, 2009 9:15 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)Hi Harm
I am really sorry to hear about your heart problems. It serves as a useful reminder to us all that we have more important things to worry about than new Premiere Pro features.
That said, I hope every member of the Premiere Pro Community joins me in wishing me a speedy recovery.
P.S. You really have nothing to apologize for.

7. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
Ann Bens Sep 16, 2009 10:39 AM (in response to RDA972)I did not go myself due to other engagemenst but i read Karl Soule gave a demonstation of Premiere CS5 and AE CS5.
Interface looks the same, Ultra Key now built in and AVC-Intra and Cuda support (effects will run 80 times faster) for Premiere.
AE will have a kind of rotobrush like in Phototshop.

Colin Brougham Sep 16, 2009 11:10 AM (in response to Ann Bens)Here's some more from the REDuser forum: http://reduser.net/forum/showpost.php?p=475602&postcount=12
Not much detail, but sounds pretty amazing...
PS: Harm, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

All I can say is WOW! I can't wait, just bring it on!

10. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
Bill Hunt Sep 16, 2009 5:10 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)Nothing serious...
Harm,
While I was looking forward to your report, take care of yourself. You are more important to this forum on a day-to-day basis, and the podcasts will have much of the conference anyway.
Stay safe and healthy,
Hunt

Bill Hunt Sep 16, 2009 5:14 PM (in response to Ann Bens)Cuda support (effects will run 80 times faster) for Premiere.
Interesting. I was thinking about migrating my Quadro to the new machine on the drawing board, but now might have to rethink that. It is not one of the models that can be adapted to CUDA. I guess that I can still use my old machine for my limited 3D - but we all know that so many "old machines" end up as doorstops...
Thanks for the report Ann,
Hunt

Ann,
Can you direct me to the article you read?
Thanks!!

13. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
Eric Addison Sep 16, 2009 10:34 PM (in response to tclark513)Add me to the list that wants to read that article. The Ultra news isn't too surprising to me...when I told an Adobe employee at NAB this year that PPro needed a better keyer - something like Ultra or Keylight, he smiled and said, "We may have something for you soon."
But check out what I read over at studio daily....
"Finally, Adobe showed tech previews of Adobe Story, its metadata-driven scriptwriting software now in public beta at the Adobe Labs. It has evolved into a hosted application that you can share with multiple viewers across the Web, and will be part of the next version of Production Premium coming this fall."
(you can go to http://www.studiodaily.com/blog/?p=1969 to read the whole thing)
Very interesting - this fall...that's right around the corner....
Harm - hope you're doing okay...

14. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
Ann Bens Sep 17, 2009 2:33 AM (in response to Eric Addison)There is no article, Karl did a sneak preview of CS5 in Amsterdam and this is some of the stuff he showed

15. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
Eric Addison Sep 17, 2009 7:11 AM (in response to Ann Bens)Ann - you said you read about the demo somewhere...I think we were just in hopes of reading it too - where did you read about the demo?
-
16. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
tclark513 Sep 17, 2009 8:12 AM (in response to Eric Addison)I would like to read that also...
By the way...what is a rotobrush in Phototshop?
P.S. I wonder if they meant 8 times faster...not 80.

17. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
Harm Millaard Sep 17, 2009 8:10 AM (in response to Ann Bens)Ann,
Was that Karl Soule? Makes me even more disappointed I could not go. We go back to his Serious Magic time.

18. Re: FYI for anyone going to IBC this week...
JSS1138 Sep 18, 2009 5:40 PM (in response to Ann Bens)Cuda support (effects will run 80 times faster) for Premiere.
That's actually a little discouraging. It leaves out a whole sector of editors who may prefer ATI. Adobe would have been wiser to include OpenCL acceleration, which works on both ATI and nVidia cards.
