The output Word document has section breaks with a comment re "odd pages" that seem to be creating a lot of blank pages. My topic titles are Heading 1's. I didn't check the option to start each topic on a separate page but it is and I assume that comes from the Heading 1.

How can I avoid manually stripping the blank pages before creating the PDF?
