Zeno Bokor Sep 17, 2009 11:13 PM (in response to Shan-Dysigns)You can disable that from View->Show->Pixel Grid

John Joslin Sep 18, 2009 12:19 AM (in response to Zeno Bokor)It is a new feature that some find useful. As ZB said, you can turn it off.

Shan-Dysigns Sep 18, 2009 10:09 AM (in response to John Joslin)Thanks for the answer guys. What is the purpose of a "pixel grid" anyway? Especially if it's not in line with the basic grid?

Zeno Bokor Sep 18, 2009 10:32 AM (in response to Shan-Dysigns)It's to see the pixels better, it can be useful when lining things up at the pixel level

5. Re: PS CS4 grid appearing at 600% zoom
Shan-Dysigns Sep 18, 2009 11:02 AM (in response to Zeno Bokor)Well, I understand about seeing pixels better because I've always used "show grid" when I want to edit at the pixel level. What I'm noticing now is pixel grid seems to properly outline the pixel, but show grid (even though I have the preferences set to show a gridline every 1 pixel) seems to outline the pixel incorrectly. This is why when I "show grid" along with "pixel grid" at the same time, I'm seeing that misaligned grid (screenshot in my original post). So the error is coming from "show grid". If you can take a look at the attached psd, I have 3 layers of a screenshot. You will see "show grid" places a gridline not quite 1 pixel in width. I'm sure the other layers are self explanatory.
EDIT: apparently this stupid forum will not allow me to upload a .psd file (even though it's not listed in the exclusion list next to the browse button). You can download it at http://www.shan-dysigns.com/photoshop/pixel-grid.psd

Zeno Bokor Sep 18, 2009 11:12 AM (in response to Shan-Dysigns)The pixel grid is always showing the outlines of each and every pixel while the old grid is based on the settings from Edit->Preferences->Guides, Grid & Slices

7. Re: PS CS4 grid appearing at 600% zoom
Shan-Dysigns Sep 18, 2009 11:25 AM (in response to Zeno Bokor)That's my point...
In my Edit->Preferences->Guides, Grid & Slices, I have the grid set to show a gridline for every 1 pixel - that should mean it will give me a grid outline for every 1 pixel wide x 1 pixel high. In CS3 it did exactly that with those settings, but in CS4 with the same settings, the grid outline shows a grid at every .7 pixel wide x .7 pixel high (approx.). Did you look at my psd example? If I have the grid set to every 1 pixel, it should be aligned with the pixel grid. This is my issue.

8. Re: PS CS4 grid appearing at 600% zoom
Zeno Bokor Sep 18, 2009 12:11 PM (in response to Shan-Dysigns)are you sure that it's set to show at each pixel? what are the exact settings for the grid?

9. Re: PS CS4 grid appearing at 600% zoom
Shan-Dysigns Sep 18, 2009 12:51 PM (in response to Zeno Bokor)Here are some images to show my point.
grid settings.jpg - shows my grid settings - 1 gridline per pixel
pixel grid.jpg - shows a 30px x 30 px document with a black background with pixel grid turned on. Notice how the gridlines are properly spaced according to the ruler whose unit is on pixels
show grid.jpg - the same 30px x 30px black document with "show grid" - you will notice the gridlines are not correct, and I've used to count tool to count the number of gridlines visible - 38 - which means it's placing a grid approx every .78px - if you refer to the original post where I included a screenshot of when both "show grid" and "pixel grid" are turned on, the grid is a mess and not aligned.
To sum it up, it appears that in CS4 the "show grid" is not functioning like it was in CS3.

Zeno Bokor Sep 18, 2009 11:43 PM (in response to Shan-Dysigns)sounds weird enough that you might need to reset your preferences: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
