John Joslin Sep 20, 2009 12:33 AM (in response to MikeV99)You probably have an incompatible 3rd party plug-in (Nik is one offender). Look for an update.
Also make sure PS is patched to version 11.0.1.

MikeV99 Sep 22, 2009 6:47 AM (in response to John Joslin)Thank you. It is indeed Nik. I have the latest PS and NIK updates. I have sent an email to NIK to see what they have to say. To get things back I just click Files/Automate/Nik Selective Tool to open it and then close it and everything returns. The problem evidently resides with the Selective Tool. The easiest workaround is to go into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\Nik Software\Selective Tool and rename SelectivePalette.8li to SelectivePalette.8lixx so that it does not load. Nik will still be available in the Filters menu.
