switching between browsers & apps?

Hi, there, I purchased Captivate yesterday and I'm making sceencasts about a server application. I have several scenarios:

1)switching between a desktop and web browser (and maybe a terminal).
2)switching between 2 desktop applications

How can this be achieved?

Some ideas:
create a custom size software simulation and just use Control-tab to switch between applications (will I need to create manual clicks to make sure all the actions are being recorded?)
will I be required to have full motion recording?

Also, is it easier to downgrade your current display to 1024x 768 or lower before you start capturing?

I'll probably be playing around with all the settings (and I've looked at the excellent information about Captivate on the Adobe site about compressing and optimizing).

In general though, what is the best kind of quality and video length for a capture of a web browser + 1 other desktop application I can expect with captivate 3 from a broadband connection (say 1.5-3 Mbps).

Thanks.

Pressing Control+Tab should be fine. Captivate should record the keypress.
just make sure your windows are the same size. Probably simplest to set the
screen to 1024x760 or 800x600 (if functionally appropriate) then capture
full-screen.

You can easily get typical Captivate content across that sort of bandwidth.
If you use no audio, it should perform somewhere between acceptably and well
over a modem.
