The issue - LR has no way to reconcile duplicate file names when dragging and dropping images files between, for instance, 3 directories of varying rankings. It's a not too common experience i have exact duplicate file names, but now that my master catalog is hitting 300,000 images, it;s becoming more prevalent.
Steps to reproduce issue:
1.in grid mode, grab any 10 (more or less) files with file names identical to those already in your catalog in another sub directory.
2.Drag those files to the new desired location - WHERE FILES WITH THE SAME NAME EXIST.
3. LR aborts the entire file transfer and does not offer duplicate file handling option...WHERE IS THE OVERWRITE FUNCTION? THE SKIP FUNCTION? THE USE UNIQUE FILE NAME IDEA Results:
The copy aborts and you have no idea how to fix the solution within LR. I have to go the finder, do a copy and replace in the finder, and then my LR catalog is missing files and is confused... Expected results: You need to implement the same options for drag and drop that you also offer for EXPORT to a SPECIFIC DESTINATION...that feature set, as detailed above...Overwrite, Unique Name or Skip...SO each and would save me a million hours of manual labor.
PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!!!!!!!! right away....major time suck every single day and night
