I'm having trouble with videos on the pbs.org website and amazon.com video on demand website. When I enter full screen the message "Press esc to exit full screen" remains and never goes away. Also, if I right click and choose settings I can't change anything or get the dialog box to go away.
Interestingly, the videos on hulu.com don't have the same problem.
The problem seemed to start with the last upgrade of the flash player. I have tried reinstalling and restarting, but nothing has worked.
I have the latest Flash Player installed (10.0.32). I'm on a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.7. It happens in Safari and in Firefox (latest versions of both). It doesn't happen when I use IE on Windows XP (via Fusion) and the latest flash player.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
Thanks,
Laura

Same problem here using OS X 10.6.1 and Adobe Flash Player versions .28 and .32 (the latest).

I'm sorry you have the same problem, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has the problem. I don't have the same problem on my iMac G5 that is running 10.4.11 with Flash 9,0,159,0.

I just uninstalled the latest version of Flash, and installed version
"flashplayer10r32_18_ub_mac_debug.dmg", and the annoying problem goes
away.
This version is available here:

Thanks, I tried it, but it didn't work. I did get some errors. First I received a dialog box with this:
Error: Error #2134: Cannot create SharedObject.

at com.vmc.lib::PDK4Plugin()
Then when I told it to continue I received another dialog box with this:

Not being a Flash programmer (I mainly do C++) I'm not sure what all of it means, but as I hit continued again I did have the same problem with the "press esc" not going away. What is the pdk plugin and how can I make it behave?
If anyone can shed some light I would appreciate it.
thanks

Did you first uninstall the previous version?

Yes, I downloaded and ran the uninstaller. I then rebooted and installed the
version you indicated. I didn't reboot after the install.

It looks like the PDK plugin is part of what PBS uses to generate their videos for the web. There is something about that plugin and my system that are not compatible. I went back to the flash version 10r12_36 and it had the same problem. Now I'm thinking it was a system update that has caused the problem.

I finally solved my problem. I had locked a couple of directories to keep flash cookies from being save: ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects and ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys. These locked directories caused the problem with the PBS videos and also with Hulu desktop.
I unlocked the directories and everything on works.
I guess you can be too safe 😉 It also helps if you remember that you did it. Fortunately, I saw a post on MacIntouch about someone else that had problems with these two directories and it joggled a few memory cells.

Thanks for the fix! Will try this when I get back home.
