    Minimal Photoshop CS4 Crashes . . .

I'm running Photoshop CS4 on an '07 Mac Pro with Photoshop GPU execration turned on.  I had installed Photoshop CS4 after installing a new internal SATA drive and partitioning the new drive by the limited abilities of the OS 10.4.x Mac Pro OEM install DVD.  Photoshop was freezing once in a while when I would do a "Save As" and one time I tried to "save as" a 65 MB PSD file, over itself, on a partition that had 350 MBs of remaining disk space and I received a message saying "operation cannot be performed do to drive error."

I read on the web about how the OS 10.4.x Mac Pro OEM install DVD does not partition drives to true Intel hardware & Serial ATA specs and that if you plan to continue to use Tiger on an Intel based Mac you must have your partitioning only done with a Leopard install DVD and then re-install Tiger after partitioning.  I did not have Leopard so I purchased Snow Leopard and used Snow Leopard's Disk Utility to partition my drive for Intel Macs running Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard, according to the selected partition option, and I did not select the option for partitioning the drive for PowerPC Macs.

I reinstalled Tiger, my CS4 apps and ran all of Apple's updates for the OS.  I'm not having any drive errors anymore but Photoshop CS4 still freezes, half of the time, when I open a large multilayered Photoshop file and then do a "Save As."  Once Photoshop displays the "Save As" window, where I select the destination, Photoshop freezes before I get a chance to hit the "Save" button.

I was running Photoshop CS4 version 11.0.0 while having the freezing problem.  Since I have downloaded and installed the Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 Adobe Update, I have not seen the program freeze again yet.  I'm also very surprised by how much faster Photoshop launches after this update.

If Photoshop continues to freeze when I do a "Save As," since I installed the 11.0.1 update, I'll share the news in this topic thread.
