    PSCS4 Uninstall Problem

    Mark A Goodwin Community Member

My problems started with me spilling tea into my MacBook Pro. It was replaced by my Insurer with a like-for-like. When I tried to install PSCS4 onto the NEW laptop, it told me that I had already used it twice and couldn't do it again. I contacted Adobe Support who sorted it for me (I couldn't deactivate the original laptop version, as the Insurer kept the machine).

OK everything working fine until, my Insurer returned my original hard drive to me in a case with USB plugin. The idea was to use it as an external hard drive of 250GB. I plugged it in to my G5 with the intention of not only deactivating the PSCS4 version that was on there, but also to remove it completely. This I did - I am not sure if I actually followed the uninstall procedure on the 'external drive'. Once I had completed the removal from the external drive, I the proceeded to try and use my G5 version to do some work and it told me that the file had been damaged or that something was missing. I spoke to support and unfortunately I don't think this particular guy (in Manilla) was that knowledgable as he told me that I could just remove it. I asked if  I could also remove CS2 and CS3 while I was at it and he said yes, and then to re-install CS4. (I also remember Ramone saying this was OK in another discussion).

I went in to Applications/Utilities/Adobe/Uninstall and deleted version 3. There was no uninstall for version 2, so I just dumped it.  When I then went back to uninstall CS4 that wasn't there.

I searched and found a suggestion from Ramone to download CS4 Clean script.  This I did.  Unfortunately, it asks me to UNINSTALL CS4 FIRST!

Before running Clean Script.  Of course I can't do that, THAT is my problem. When I tried to run it anyway, it just told me there was nothing to clean!

PLEASE..what do I do now? I am stuck with a programme that doesn't work, and I am unable to uninstall it.  I would just dump it in the Trash, but I read in the 'Ramone' discussion that, that was a No-no!

      Thanks for your patience

There is no need to uninstall CS2 and CS3.

As far as the old hard drive I would have saved my data and wiped the drive. No need to deactivate the drive as Adobe has it recorded that the drive was dead.

SInce you started deleting things you best bet is to run the CS3 clean script  and then the CS4 Clean script on high. Then reinstall everything. Sorry you had to speak with an idiot in Manilla. I have dealt with them before and its like explaining something to a sack of hammers.
