Acrobat in WorkBench ES and WorkSpace ES

I want to ask a basic question related to the acrobat.

In WorkBench we create the forms using the From design perspective. In workspace we see these forms.

My questions are

1) What is the role of acrobat and in which tier Acrobat is present ?

2) Can we use the workspace and perform all the functions if Acrobat isn't installed in my system ?

3) What are the functions I/user can't perform if acrobat is absent and the reader is present ?

Thanks

Acrobat (or Reader) is the client.  For the type of operation that you are describing it is not used on the server (it is used for some specific LC Generator operations).

Normally forms are renderend as PDFs, so you need something on the client that can interpret them (Reader is the most common).

I believe that you can render the forms as HTML in workspace, which would not require Acrobat or Reader.  I have no experience at this, but the settings are there.

The default is to render the form you created in PDF. You can also modify settings for the rendering of the PDF file, such as where it is rendered, the PDF formats, and so on.  However, you can also render the form in HTML and as a form guide (provided you created a Guide when you created your form).

For more information about rendering the form to different formats, take a look at these Quick Starts:

- Rendering with different PDF settings - http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_qsXDPForm_82

- Rendering a form guide - http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_qsFormGuides_82

- Rendering an HTML form http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_qsHTMLForms_82

Hope that helps!
