JSS1138 May 6, 2009 8:27 PM (in response to SplineTimeLine)Some type of 'preset' file would be my guess, though I've not seen these exact files before.

2. Re: stray, random files, written when saving/opening projects
JSS1138 Oct 22, 2009 12:07 PM (in response to JSS1138)I now find myself with these exact same files in many of my project folders. A little research has turned up an association with data mining software. I don't like the sound of that. Who the hell is mining my computer for data? And what the hell did I install that let them in?!
Oddly, I can find no pattern as to which folders have these files and which don't. It seems random, other than the fact they only seem to appear in folders with a .prproj file in them. But not all folders have them. Recent project activity provides no clue.
Is anyone else seeing these?
And Dennis especially, do you know what the hell is going on here?

Jim,
That IS scary, and it's not even Halloween yet!
I assume that you are referring to CS4.1 Project folders. I just checked about 12 PrPro 2.0 Project folders and have nothing like these files. I also did a Search of my laptop and none exist anywhere.
I hope that Dennis, or someone else, can clear this up. Though I have not encountered such, it does not sound like something that I would want on my system.
Maybe Adobe is selling your wedding footage as stock? [Of course not - just a crude little joke. Dennis can tell the Official Adobe Lawyers to stand-down.]
Good luck, and hope that someone else can help out here.

Jeff Bellune Oct 22, 2009 12:51 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)FWIW, I don't have those in any of my project folders. Maybe leftovers from a plug-in? Magic Bullet? I haven't used Looks recently. How about a Windows 7 RC thing?

5. Re: stray, random files, written when saving/opening projects
JSS1138 Oct 22, 2009 3:11 PM (in response to Jeff Bellune)The original poster had them in Vista.
Some projects without MB Looks still have them, but not all. Some projects with MB Looks have them, but not all. Some recent projects have them, but not all. Some older projects have them, but not all.
I can find no pattern as to when they show up.

Uh-oh, can we expect our Windows 3.1.1 to now fail, since you have uleashed the daemons?
Hope you guys get to the bottom of this. I worry, but maybe there is nothing to be concerned with?????
Good luck, and please report any details,

Bottazzoli-dNpTm1 Nov 29, 2009 11:01 AM (in response to SplineTimeLine)Hi,
I just got the same thing, on Windows 7 Home premium and PPR CS4 4.2. More, PPR crashes several time during editing.
I could not find out what has caused that new thing so I uninstalled the lasted apps; WinRAR and Smartsound, restored the PC to an earlier state and now it works again fine.

13. Re: stray, random files, written when saving/opening projects
JSS1138 Nov 29, 2009 2:35 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)The random files are not connected to either of the programs mentioned nor the Premiere crashes.
I do believe those files ARE related to Premiere. If Dennis could chime in on this one...

Just curious,

Unfortunately I have not resolved them. I just keep working and ignoring
them.
Still hoping there is some sane explaination, but not going to wait on the
solution.
If I stumble across an answer I will let you know.

16. Re: stray, random files, written when saving/opening projects
Stan Jones Nov 29, 2009 8:58 PM (in response to SplineTimeLine)Don't know why this got me curious....
Looks more like licensing related, but I have no clue why they appear in premiere folders.
Many references to these for several years, and across OS.
Mine (XP sp3, CS3) are in windows/system32, which is where I think they belong.
I noticed the modified date for lsprt7.dll was a bit earlier this evening. I had both Premiere and Encore open around the time the file was modified. So I closed, then opened Premiere. No change to the modified. Closed premiere, opened Encore. No change. With encore open, opened Premiere; modifed date changed.

18. Re: stray, random files, written when saving/opening projects
Urs E. Dec 5, 2009 11:15 PM (in response to SplineTimeLine)Hi,
I first saw these files about two weeks ago. When I deleted them the reappeared after short time.
Yesterday I started a new project and till know I did nothing else than capturing my newest tapes.
When I opened the PP project (4.2, on Vista 64bit) today, I just saw that the files where created. The files have exact the actual date and time when I opened the project.
I seams that they are created somehow by Premiere. But it looks very strange to me!
Thanks for any help.
Regards
Urs

Bill Hunt Dec 6, 2009 4:49 PM (in response to JSS1138)That would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to hear a definitive answer to this question.
Now, as I have none, I wonder if they relate to Adobe Dynamic Link with the updated versions of Encore and PrPro. Being on PrPro & Encore 2.0, I obviously have a very limited DL, and really have seldom used it.
Color me curious,

21. Re: stray, random files, written when saving/opening projects
Kenneth Mcitalo Jan 13, 2010 9:30 AM (in response to SplineTimeLine)Im getting those files aswell. Found them when i was testing new camera settings/capture settings with OnLocation.
Opened premeire and was about to import the clip i just recorded with the camera and saw them in "that" folder.
Became scared because i just "fixed" this computer. It had a very dumb trojan/keylogger installed on it. Which i removed just
a day ago. New at this job so it was pretty much my first task to do. Clean the computers and set up a faster workflow. Anywho... Non of the virus/hijack/spy apps detects them as something harmful but searching the net makes me a bit worried. Somethings wrong...
Adobe - please look into this. Is this "adobe" related or is this a virus/trojan that gets connected to the adobe suite.

Maybe you'll find out which software package or network resource is creating the files. FWIW, I've never seen those files on my system. Ever.

23. Re: stray, random files, written when saving/opening projects
Jeff Bellune Jan 13, 2010 11:28 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune)I was curious. So bing'ed some of those file names.
Links seem to point to SafeNet. So if you can find which program(s) on your system use SafeNet for licensing, you can probably discover where the files are coming from.
Then again, I could be completely wrong.

26. Re: stray, random files, written when saving/opening projects
Kenneth Mcitalo Jan 14, 2010 2:28 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune)I'm not a windows user nor a experienced premiere user. Where do I find out if somethings using "SafeNet"?
As i wrote in my previous message. New job and "new" computers. Windows Pc's with Vista 64bit installed on them.
My first guess would be the activity monitor but i can't find anything.
Any ideas?

27. Re: stray, random files, written when saving/opening projects
Jeff Bellune Jan 14, 2010 6:07 AM (in response to Kenneth Mcitalo)If you're on a company network, then very likely it is the company's security software that's using a SafeNet component. If that's the case, then all those odd files can be safely ignored.
