Wade_Zimmerman Dec 14, 2009 1:53 PM (in response to dcacrobat)Clearly you have a low res file here and you will more than likely have to obtain the original or at least a high res version from either the creator or the copyright owner. If it is a client of yours or a company you work for then they will have to supply it.. Then you will probably have to traceit with the pen tool.
As far as wrapping the text there are a few ways of doing this.
Gary Newman has not bee around for a long time but he had a very excellent tutorial and of course using 3D effect to map the text to globe that has an invisible geometry is another way. You simply make a slightly larger half circle path give it an 3D effect Revolve and turn the text to a symbol then in the 3d select the txt from the symbol drop dow in the map art dialog and turn invisible geometry on you get this you have control as to size and placement of the text.
Maybe this is more convincing
