    Copying your own Blu-ray videos?

      Adobe Production Suite CS4

      Windows XP Pro SP3

      Buffalo BR-816SU2 Blu-ray burner

      Nero 9 (Nero-9.4.26.0)

Problem: Copying your own Blu-ray videos?

I am planning to author a Blu-ray video disc using Adobe Encore. The end result should have a menu and video just like any Blu-ray movie you rent from Blockbuster. Before I buy a Blu-ray burner and other equipment, I need to make sure I can duplicate the Blu-ray video discs I produce.

Will Nero or any other copy software have trouble making video copies of the original Blu-ray disc I produce with Encore for playing on a Blu-ray TV desktop? I will not have any protection set. Since Blu-ray is touchy about protection, it is unclear if copy software will let you make a copy of Encore produced Blu-ray video discs. Thanks in advance.

If your authoring out of Encore, just make an iso file and you can burn (copy) it as many times as you want.Copying from a BD can be done but ive found you tend to get artifacts in the reproduction. Making the BD play correctly will be your biggest problem.

          Good luck,Kent

I think that Kent's method would be the best. I'd get a copy of the freeware burning utility, ImgBurn. It is simple and great. It will allow one to copy discs, and I believe that it will do this with BD. I use it all of the time for DVD-Video and just use my two DVD burners, so I do not need to first copy from the source disc to the computer. With one burner, this would need to be done - unless you do that initially, as Kent recommended.

I seldom use Nero, and never Roxio, so I cannot comment on their capabilities, or any issues that might arise from their use.

            Good luck,

Note: there are other software downloads that appear in not really well-defined ads, on the ImgBurn site. You want the ImgBurn program, which is free. Study the links on the site, and make sure that you have not clicked on one of the ads. They have confused many.

I've been using the free CDBurnerXP to burn blu-ray iso's made by encore.

don't be put off by the XP in the name, it's working perfectly on Vista Business 64 (tho not 64 bit).         - joey
