Camera RAW beta 5.6 Bridge previews gone, can't uninstall

I updated to the 5.6 beta to work with some 7D files, and now get no previews in Bridge. I've purged the cache, no good. I also lost my Smart Collections, a major PIA. I wanted to uninstall, but can't, and can't find any info.

Anybody?

I've encountered exactly the same problem. I installed the ACR 5.6 release candidate on my MacBook Pro to work with my EOS 7D files in PSE 8.0 and now Bridge CS4 will not display thumbnails for any files except JPEGs. I tried the troubleshooting steps (purging the cache within Bridge and manually) outlined in the Adobe Tech Note (link: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407945.html) entitled "Camera raw files appear as generic icons instead of image previews (Bridge CS4)", but this didn't solve the problem. I filed a support request on the Adobe Customer Support Portal and so far have received one useless response from their support staff.

I suggest that you file a support request also to impress upon Adobe that there is a serious bug in ACR 5.6.

This should NOT happen. Bridge CS4 should show thumbnails of 7D if you have ACR 5.6 installed on Mac. Could you let me know your full, exact path of the 5.6 plugin location?

The plugin was installed using the downloaded installer via the Adobe Labs site. It is at: HD>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-ins> CS4>File Formats

OSX 10.5.8, Macbook 2Ghz 2GB RAM

Sorry for the delay responding... Your path looks correct. Could you click on the plugin and double check the 'version' and 'size?'

Your path is correct, but plugin size for 5.6x134 doesn't look right. Was the "File Format" folder empty when you run the 5.6 RC installer?

Camera RAW 5,6 full ver. out, and it's a simple drag-and-drop. That oughta fix you up...

Well, unfortunately it did not solve my problem with Bridge. After installation of this latest ACR 5.6 version, thumbnails (except for JPEGs) still will not display in Bridge. Also, under the Adobe Bridge CS4 drop-down menu, the selection "Camera Raw Preferences" remains grayed-out.

Try downloading and using the DNG converter. That was the only way I've been able to see previews in CR. Using this for a G11. Admittedly it's a work around, but it does allow you to see your raw thumbnails.

I don't know if this will help, but remember that you cannot have more than one camera raw plug-in in the appropriate folder, even if the old version of the plug-in is renamed.

I can open my raw files through bridge but no previews which makes it impossible to organize.

Ive been trying everything for 5 days straight and no progress! Im losing hope since you all have been trying since last year!

What is UP adobe!

SOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOR NOW...UNTIL ADOBE GETS THEIR ACT TOGETHER...

I JUST DOWNLOADED THE "STAND ALONE VERSION" here:

DRAGGED AND DROPPED THE ACR TO REPLACE you will notice the stand alone is smaller in file size.

Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-ins> CS4>File Formats

IF I OPEN THE RAW FILE AND MAKE A TINY ADJUSTMENT {ie. SATURATION.1%]
AND CLICK "DONE" IT WILL GENERATE A RAW PREVIEW!!

WTF RIGHT!

The PSE Bridge thumbnail problem was not solved for me. In fact, I spent quite some time with Adobe tech support (terrible support, by the way) on this issue and never got anywhere. The claimed "rebuild the corrupt cache" fix did nothing.

In addition to the Bridge thumbnail bug, I get the "licensing has stopped working" error message whenever I launch PSE. The claimed fix for this bug has not worked either. Also, about half the time when I launch PSE, the tool palette has disappeared and the only way to get it back is to close the program and relaunch it.

My workaround to these problems has been to abandon PSE (and all Adobe products) and purchase Aperture 3. Works like a charm!
