1. Re: PHOTOSHOP CS4 DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY SCANNER
John Joslin Dec 28, 2009 10:40 AM (in response to Matthew A Kraus)Scanning outside photoshop is not such a bad thing.
Photoshop itself is not a scanning program and simply hosts the Epson Scan software, which ties up the Photoshop until scanning is complete.
Many prefer the stand-alone method and even use third party software like Vuescan.,

jmat166 Dec 28, 2009 12:19 PM (in response to John Joslin)I am having the exact same problem as you!! CS4 worked when I added my Epson workforce 600 4 months ago, but all of a sudden the printer will not appear and am unable to scan. I performed an uninstall and reinstall but will not fix the problem. I will check back to see if their are any other solutions...

dec9 Dec 28, 2009 12:29 PM (in response to Matthew A Kraus)I scan using my epson software, do 90 percent of my adjustments in the software, then save it to whatever folder on a hard drive then open it in bridge and/or PS CS4. In another post, somewhere buried in here, it stated that there won't be a twain 64 bit driver for CS4 because Adobe could not get it to work correctly.

shunithD Dec 28, 2009 10:35 PM (in response to Matthew A Kraus)As John Joslin suggested... try VueScan. Excellent scanning software, very reasonably priced, unlimited upgrades, less than U$ 100. Just check if your scanner is supported (i just checked and it seems to be).
I used to use it and found it excellent. In fact, one of the cool things was that i could do all my scans in one session and then open the images in PS when i wanted / needed to work on them.

rogleale Dec 29, 2009 1:21 AM (in response to Matthew A Kraus)Hi Matthew,
If you did a normal install of CS4 64 bit, you will also have installed the 32 bit version of CS4, which you will find in Program Files(X86).
I had the same scanning problem as you, and to get round it I do any needed scans in CS4 32 bit, where it works ok.
Roger
