1. Re: Photoshop Elements 6.0 / Editing using 'Adjust Sharpness'
Barbara B. Jan 7, 2010 5:11 PM (in response to naturesbestside)When things go weird in PSE the first thing to do is to delete the preferences: quit PSE, then relaunch it while holding down command+shift+option. Keep holding the keys till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

Thanx a bunch for the insight into correcting some of the idiosyncrasies that pop-up on occasion. This unfortunately, did not correct this particular behavior I mentioned but will try once again to repeat the process. The 'Unsharp Mask' for the most part works satisfactorily but it would be useful to have this method available for sharpening also.
Once again, thanx for your quick response and helpful hint in regards to correcting these idiosyncratic hiccups that seem to surface occasionally with PSE!

Barbara B. Jan 7, 2010 8:54 PM (in response to naturesbestside)If that didn't do it, go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 paths folder
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 settings folder
Opera preferences
Repair permissions and try again.

Appreciate, once again your quick response but my question now is where do I go to find / username>library>preferences? Is this in my Finder for my iMac or is this found in PSE? Did you mean to delete just 'Repair permissions' or all that was listed after your semicolon ?
com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 paths folder
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 settings folder
Opera preferences
Thanx for your patience.

5. Re: Photoshop Elements 6.0 / Editing using 'Adjust Sharpness'
Barbara B. Jan 8, 2010 6:17 PM (in response to naturesbestside)Go to your OS X username (home) folder. Open the library folder there, open the preferences folder there, look for the files/folders I listed.
You can't "delete repair permissions." To repair permissions go to the Applications folder. Open the Utilities folder. Launch Disk Utility. Click your hard drive in the list on the left, then click Repair Permissions. This takes a while, but you should do it after installing programs that use an installer (as opposed to drag and drop installs) and after running system updates.

Your directions guided me through the process and I was able to complete but am sorry to report that I still continue to have that 'glitch' with ADJUST SHARPENING. Your apparent expertise has given me insight in dealing with future spurious anomalies. At least I continue to have success with UNSHARP MASK giving me for the most part, the satisfied result I'm looking for !
Thanx again for your kind assistance,

I forgot to let you know that the only folder in the Library>Preferences that I wasn't able to delete was 'Opera preferences' as it was not listed.
