use the externalinterface class to communicate between js and as.
I don't think I'm quite advanced enough yet to use the externalinterface class.
Is there a easier method to do this.
I thought that basically I would need to get js to send a flash var with a hex colour code in it and then flash would change the fill of an object to what ever hex code it recieved through this flash var.
Many thanks for the help, although I think you're thinking that I'm more advanced at AS than I am. I've only just managed to copy, cut & paste this code together from snippets off of the internet.

there's no easier way than using the externalinterface class.
open the flash help files and copy their code for the as and js. they have sample code that's almost fool-proof. if you copy and paste you should be able to get js and as communicating. once you have that working, change the js to send what you want and change the as to suit your needs.
