Jacob Bugge Jan 24, 2010 7:51 AM (in response to on5lb)Jean,
What do you mean by converted tif images?
A images showing original and placed image may help the helpers.

2. Re: Truncated image
on5lb Jan 24, 2010 8:33 AM (in response to Jacob Bugge)My apologies for my english.
In fact, i have two problems.
- When i open a *tif image i recieved, the image is partially out of the frame in Illustrator
How can i adjust it to the correct definition of my image ?
- When i convert *svg images using illustrator CS3, some are not accepted: "incorrect form, line 1 colon 0" ::
In illustrator, i have a message: "This SVG file is not valide, You have to validate before opening"
How to proceed ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Jean

I am afraid you will have to show us what you mean.
How do you open it? File>Place from inside Illy, or Open With from outside, or?
And I am afraid someone else will have to answer the SVG part.
Someone?

4. Re: Truncated image
on5lb Jan 24, 2010 9:20 AM (in response to Jacob Bugge)I succeeded (partially)
!
When i open an image into illustrator, I click "File > Open" and the image is mostly out of the initial illustrator Frame.
Then, i click "Docment format" and increase the dimension of the initial frame.
But there must be an other way, which give you the possibility to "adjust" the Frame to the image dimension.
Because, when i "Export" there is an "obsolete" partion.
About SVG format, pitty from Adobe to delete it from utilities, (How many application are deleted so far...) ?
Anyway, if you can give me some advice to solve the possibility to adjust the Illustration Frame, i'll appreciate.
Regards,
Jean
PS: Where have I to go for SVG files ?

Jacob Bugge Jan 24, 2010 9:29 AM (in response to on5lb)Jean,
What you call the Frame, is that the Artboard?
If it is, then you may increase it by changing its size in File>Document Setup. I believe the Artboard Tool has not been introduced before CS4; with that you could set it to fit the artwork (which would be the image in this case).
You can always select the image and move it round.
I hope someone in this forum can help you with the SVG.

on5lb Jan 24, 2010 10:03 AM (in response to Jacob Bugge)Jacob,
You're right, with "Frame" i meaned "Artboard" sorry.
I use the option "File > Document Setup" from the beginning, but some images are truncated anyway.
Even with a larger Artboard than the image it selve !
And, some image are provocating a message: "Not enough memory" !!!
For information:
- I use an Intel i7 Extreme 3.2GHz processor
- 12GB Triple DDR3 1600 memory
- nVIDIA FX 4800 graphics card 1.5GB memory on board !
- VelociRaptor drives.
Is that not enough for mister Illustrator ?

Jean

7. Re: Truncated image
Scott Falkner Jan 24, 2010 10:34 AM (in response to on5lb)That's just how Illustrator works. When you Open a TIF image you are actually creating a new file, then linking to the TIF file. The size of the artboard is the last size created before opening the TIF image and has no relation to the size of the image. The only fix is to wait until the universe collapses on itself, or until Adobe changes this, whichever comes first. Have a drink at Milliways in the meantime.

Scott Falkner Jan 24, 2010 11:08 AM (in response to on5lb)What do you mean by, “How big?” Do you mean file size? Do you mean dimensions in pixels? Do you mean dimensions in inches?
