Window not showing up when generating webhelp

When I set the layout settings for my webhelp project, the only option available in the 'Default Window' drop down list is <None> and yet I have created 2 windows. Why would they not show up?

They show up fine in the settings for generating a chm from this project.

Any ideas?

Hi there

Unless you are linking to WebHelp using the WebHelp API, Windows are about as useful as a four track tape player from the 1960's or so.

Even then, you wouldn't choose the window in the layout properties. You define it in your project, but the JavaScript call in the WebHelp API is what calls the window. That's something the developer does.

Cheers... Rick

Ha yes you are so right! I was trying to change the browser window title and couldn't find anywhere else to do it (I later found it under Project Settings). I did think it a bit strange to have a window setting in webhelp - do we know why it's there in the layout properties?

Hi there

Yes, I explained why in my reply. If you are using the WebHelp API it gets used then.

Cheers... Rick
