1. Re: Problems installing Acrobat 9I
Bill McQuary Feb 2, 2010 9:32 AM (in response to Mark_Waterworth)I have the same problem. I recently upgraded from CS2 (Premium) to CS4 (Standard) and, although I needed help from Adobe Tech Support, I installed the suite successfully. However, Acrobat Pro 9 did not update like the other applications so I called in for more help. That was a bust and, as a matter of fact, after removing some components from the Acrobat.app folder as directed, Acrobat wouldn't even open any more. Consequently, I trashed it and started over.
Unfortunately, now I have the same problem the first user has. Installations proceeds normally until the "Preparing to Install..." screen at which it just stops. It doesn't freeze up or anything, it just dies.
Sure hope somebody can offer a solution.
Thanks in advance.

Mark_Waterworth Feb 2, 2010 2:28 PM (in response to Bill McQuary)Bill,
What Phillip suggested worked for me, to get over the other problem regarding the issue with "preparing to install" I deactivated my complete adobe suite, then uninstalled everything, once I reinstalled everything from scratch the installer worked, Acrobat included, Phillip's solution now allows me to create pdf documents.
I hope this works for you too.

Bill McQuary Feb 3, 2010 10:42 AM (in response to Phillip Jones)Phillip,
I haven't been able to use the links, but I'll try some more. Reinstalling CS4 (Standard) will be problematic because the installer doesn't recognize my CS2 (Premium) serial number even though it qualifies for the upgrade. I have to go back to Adobe Installation Help to get a one-time code that activates the installer. I'll copy the procedure and code down this time, but I suspect I'll be dependent on the Help fairy again should Acrobat baulk in the future.
Regards,
Bill

13. Re: Problems installing Acrobat 9I
Bill McQuary Feb 3, 2010 1:36 PM (in response to Bill McQuary)Philip,
I am well. I called the Adobe Install help line and was instructed to download the CS4 Clean Script and follow the Read Me instructions for its use. That involved deinstalling CS4, running the script and then installing CS5 (Standard) again.
The installer worked, it didn't ask for a qualifying upgrade serial number and even remembered my Registration page. When that was over I ran the update check, downloaded them and, with minor exceptions, installed them all, including Acrobat Pro 9.3.0,
Thanks for your assistance.
Bill
