1. Re: New to this and can't open any files
BobLevine Feb 12, 2010 6:33 AM (in response to confused6706)ID only opens InDesign, Pagemaker or Quark documents.
All other files must be placed using the file>place command.
Missing plugin errors are usually indicative of trying to open InDesign files created with a later version of the program. What is the exact error message and what version of InDesign are you using?
Finally, please get yourself a copy of Sandee Cohen's Visual Quickstart Guide. You can buy it at Amazon for less than $20.00 http://bit.ly/aZGIjk.
You might also consider a month to month subscription to Lynda.com.

2. Re: New to this and can't open any files
confused6706 Feb 12, 2010 6:51 AM (in response to BobLevine)Thank you for your quick reply. I have solved the opening of the InDesign files.
But, when I place a pdf it looks very blurry. The pdf was made at a high resolution. Is there anything I can do about that?

Seriously...buy that book! Every InDesign newbie should have it within arm's reach.

Daniel Flavin Feb 12, 2010 6:55 AM (in response to confused6706)View > Display Performance > High Quality Display
or (my usual) right click, Display Performance > High Quality Display
ID is saving some processing power by default.
