Enterprise Manager option missing in CF Admin

I've been running CF9 Developer Edition (multiserver mode) for about two months without issue. I have one instance created and running, along with the base cfusion instance.

Today I logged into the admin and found that the "Enterprise Manager" option was missing from the menu. I haven't changed the licensing or even applied a hot fix. I've tried restarting with no luck.

I verified that the cfide/administrator/entman/ directory exists, but I cannot access it.

How do I get this option back? I'm sure it used to be there.

The Enterprise Manager feature is only available in the cfusion instance.

I understand that. The option is not in the base instance where it should be.

I see your point. The Administrator page of the base instance should have a links to 'Instance Manager' and 'Cluster Manager' (under the Enterprise Manager section) in the bottom left-hand corner. That page is a frameset. Does your browser have problems opening the navigation frame?

Try opening the navigation page and the instance manager page on their own, and see what happens. The respective links should look like

http://127.0.0.1:8300/CFIDE/administrator/navserver.cfm

http://127.0.0.1:8300/CFIDE/administrator/entman/index.cfm

I have used my own IP and the default base instance port number, 8300.

Postscript: As I wrote that, I wondered whether Coldfusion defaults to the single-server version after the trial period ends. I'm going to have a look.

I have verified the question in my last post. You can run a multi-server version on the Developer Edition. However, only a maximum of 2 client machines will be able to access your applications. So, in principle you should be able to have as many instances as you want, even with the Developer Edition.

I've checked it in multiple browsers with the same result. Even though I'm in the base instance of a multi-server installation of CF9 (developer edition), I can't access the Enterprise Manager. Something is broken here. You can see from the screenshot (attached) that it is indeed Developer Edition and the link is missing from the left navigation.

I am very confused by this.

What happens when you do something like this

http://127.0.0.1:8300/CFIDE/administrator/entman/index.cfm

When I hit this:

http://127.0.0.1:8300/cfide/administrator/entman/index.cfm

I get a 404. That may be because I'm not using the built-in web server, I'm using IIS.

When I hit http://127.0.0.1/cfide/administrator/entman/index.cfm  (no port specified, 80 assumed)

I get a blank page. The entman directory does exist under cfide/administrator.

As an experiment I tried entering in my CF 9 Standard license key, restarting, then reverting back to Developer edition (by editing my licence.properties file). Unfortunately it didn't fix anything.

What is interesting is that I have access to all the other "Enterprise Only" features, like Archiving and Deployment, and Request Limit Management.

So it isn't like I was reverted back to ColdFusion Standard (which I originally suspected). I just lost access to the Enterprise Manager, which is very frustrating.

Since you are on IIS, did you

1) configure IIS for Coldfusion?

2) copy the site files to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\?

There's something else to rule out. Go to the Mappings page and verify that the mapping for /CFIDE is correct. Also, to be sure, use CFIDE, not cfide:

http://127.0.0.1/CFIDE/administrator/entman/index.cfm

or, even better,

http://127.0.0.1/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm?target=/CFIDE/administrator/entman/index.cfm

This gives me a blank page.

http://127.0.0.1/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm?target=/CFIDE/administrator/entman/index.cfm

This gives me the standard admin navigation, and a blank page where the enterprise manager should be.

The CFIDE mapping is correct:

/CFIDE points to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE

I also checked the virtual directory in IIS:

CFIDE maps to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE

I finally had to give in and reinstall CF today. I'd love to get to the bottom of this, but it seems like a bug deep within CF. Reinstalling restored the Enterprise Manager.

Thank you very much for the time you spent trying to help solve this.

It's all right. That was quite a puzzler, wasn't it?

Good luck.

I am having the same problem. The only difference is that I am seeing this on a client's CF9 Enterprise installation. You can see from the attached screenshot that they are running Enterprise and the Enterprise Manager option is missing. I've been through the suggestions in this thread with no luck. Any ideas?

In principle and in reality too. This is the way I work on a day to day basis.
