1. Re: Mercury: GTX 265 limitations vs Quadro?
jabloomf1230 Feb 19, 2010 6:42 PM (in response to Mark Morreau)If it's only limited by the graphics card memory, that would be pretty strange. The Quadro CX/FX 4800 has 1.5 GB RAM.The Quadro FX 5800 has 4 GB RAM. BFG makes a 285 GTX with 2GB RAM. I have an EVGA 275 GTX and it has 1792 MB RAM. It has to be more than that factor, that limits how many layers are accelerated.

mauryg3 Feb 20, 2010 2:48 PM (in response to jabloomf1230)From a discussion I had at the Adobe Road Show about a year ago, the real limitation is not the amount of memory, but the number of cores or streams.
The 265 has 216, the 275 and 285 have 240 and the 295 has 480 (dual GPU). But it can't be simply that because the Quadro FX4800 ($1500) only has 192 and the FX5800 ($3000) has 240. Interesting question.

medeamajic Feb 21, 2010 12:16 AM (in response to mauryg3)I hope we see some of the lower ends cards get added to the list. Three layers of 4K is good enough for me.
