1. Re: How does preset selection affect output options?
shooternz Feb 23, 2010 10:29 AM (in response to rlafoto1)The answer is not really.
You should always match your Project Settings to your Source material with consideration to the end use. ie. Work in the highest quality and resolution you can. That allows for subsequent encoding and exporting at maximised levels.

shooternz Feb 23, 2010 12:08 PM (in response to rlafoto1)That should work fine.

rlafoto1 Feb 23, 2010 12:49 PM (in response to rlafoto1)I am documenting WWII experiences of veterans from my home town. It could have many uses. I would like to preserve the highest resolution possible but that will probably not be the most useful short-term. I would like to post to the web - but definitley DVD...

5. Re: How does preset selection affect output options?
Bill Hunt Feb 23, 2010 8:31 PM (in response to rlafoto1)By setting up your Project/Sequence Presets to match your source footage, you can then alter your Export to suit. Now, if you start with HD, then there are some quality considerations, if SD (DVD) is your intended output. If you are doing SD to start, then you are "home free." You can Export to almost anything, for your delivery.
If you do start with HD, then this ARTICLE might be useful, when down-rezing to SD.
Good luck, and sounds like a great Project. Hope that you will find distribution, and that some of us can catch it on one of the History Channels.
