Replacing Baggage Files and maintaining links

Hello-

I need to replace a baggage file in my current RH7 project, with a newer doc version. How do I preserve the links to the document so that I dont have to edit the link properties in each project file? Or if not possible, how do I identify which documents are currently linked to that baggage file so I can edit the hyperlinks? Thanks!

Hi there

For my own money, I might think a safer approach would be to always use the same file name for the Baggage File. Just differentiate at the source level.

For example, call the Baggage File RedRabbit if you like, but on your hard drive (or wherever you store the file) you have RedRabbit Version One. Just copy it and rename so you may easily replace the Baggage File. That way you don't have to play mucky muck with linking and finding and replacing and all that rot.

Cheers... Rick

As long as the new file has exactly the same name it should be OK. If perchance it does not get uploaded, just trash the earlier version from the target folder and tick the Check Deleted Files option or use Republish All.

Thank you Peter. Unfortunately, I have to update the name of the document in order to keep track of versions. Is there a way to identify where in the project the baggage file is linked?

I think I would add the new baggage file leaving the old one for the moment. Then use a multi file find and replace tool to change the hyperlinks from the old file to the new one. As always when using such tools, create a backup first.
