1. Re: How do I automatically create additional chapter menus in Encore
Bill Hunt Mar 4, 2010 1:17 PM (in response to terry lee martin)You do not do this automatically, like in Premiere Elements. In Encore, it is done by hand, and as is needed.
In the Project Panel, just Select your Scene Selection Menu, and Copy it. Then Paste it into the Project Panel. It will come in with the Menu name and "Copy" postpended to it. Do this as many times, as is necessary. I then make sure that my Scene Selection Menus are renamed to reflect their order, i.e. Scene_Selection_01, _02, etc.
I also will go into those copies and change the Chapter Names (the Text in the Buttons' Layer Set), and will also change my Buttons' names. Be careful here, as you will have necessary characters at the beginning of the Button's name and a space. ONLY change the name after that space. This helps me know exactly which Chapter I will be linking to. Otherwise, you'll have Button 1 through Button X and it will be the same for each of those Scene Selection Menus - can get confusing quickly.
Last, go in and clean up any unnecessary Buttons. Say you have a Previous and a Next on each of these Scene Selection Menus, you will NOT want a Next Button on the last one. Nor will you want a Previous Button on the first one.
If you have more Chapter Buttons, than you need, with Edit in Photoshop (or the Encore Menu editing Panel), just Delete the extra Buttons' Layer Sets, then realign the Buttons on that last Menu, as is needed for the design.
Good luck, and hope that it helps,
Hunt

2. Re: How do I automatically create additional chapter menus in Encore
Bill Hunt Mar 4, 2010 1:19 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Now for a Chapter Index Menu, just choose one of the Library Assets that is an Index. You can alter aspects of the Library Menu later, if required.
Some of this depends on exactly how you wish for your Menus to perform, what you want them to look like, and similar.
Good luck,

terry lee martin Mar 4, 2010 2:20 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Hi Bill,
Thank you. I will use your procedures, however h
ere is the place where I read about the automation I was attempting. Am I reading it wrong about what I can do with this procedure? It appears to allow me to take my original menu and using the steps shown, Encore will create additional menus and links all my additional chapter points.
It is the first article shown in this PDF document. The second page shows the procedure I was attempting. It is the second paragraph titled "Automate Chapter Button Creation". Terry

This message comes because the buttons on your menu might not be of type "Chapter". A button might look like a chapter button but it may not be of type 'chapter'.
Just select your button and in the properties panel for the button, change the type to Chapter. Do this for all the buttons you want your chapters to be linked automatically. Then this message won't come.
