    FLV does not play replaced by symbols?

    rlafoto1 Level 1

      Hi All,

      I must be doing something wrong.  I have created an FLV file that plays when opened in Windows Media Player.

      When I start with a new html page (from “Create HTML”) and use the Insert Media:FLV and follow the instructions everything looks great.  But when I test the video in a browser all that I see are multiple lines of symbols representing “start, pause, etc”?  I cannot get the video to play.

      Any suggestions?

      Thanks,

      Randy

          Do you have a test page that we could see?  Or at least a screenshot of what you are seeing and possibly the code?

            This is what comes up in brower preview:

              It seems really simple to add an FLV video - I must be missing something?  Here is the code:

              <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="720" height="396" id="FLVPlayer">
                <param name="movie" value="FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf" />
                <param name="quality" value="high" />
                <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
                <param name="scale" value="noscale" />
                <param name="salign" value="lt" />
                <param name="FlashVars" value="&amp;MM_ComponentVersion=1&amp;skinName=Clear_Skin_1&amp;streamName=WarandFaith&am p;autoPlay=false&amp;autoRewind=false" />
                <param name="swfversion" value="8,0,0,0" />
                <!-- This param tag prompts users with Flash Player 6.0 r65 and higher to download the latest version of Flash Player. Delete it if you don’t want users to see the prompt. -->
                <param name="expressinstall" value="Scripts/expressInstall.swf" />
                <!-- Next object tag is for non-IE browsers. So hide it from IE using IECC. -->
                <!--[if !IE]>-->
                <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf" width="720" height="396">

                It looks as if the problem is with "previewing in browser".  I uploaded to my website and it works.  My apologies for not understanding some of the problems with previewing in the broswer!

                Thank you so much for help...

                  ... I'm having the same problem, but I'm not prepared to settle for 'it's okay online'... I need to preview my FLV files locally... somebody please help with this one! I also can't seem to find a logical way to load F4V files! I look forward to hearing back from someone - rlafoto1, if you've figured it out, I'd a appreciate a note. Thanks, katty.

                    Hi katty,

                    you attach your question onto a very old thread. Would you please start a new thread (maybe better two) with your questions, so you will get answers more easily.

                    ... and please give us a link to your website in question, no better how it looks like, so we can analyze it much better.
