whytefly Mar 8, 2010 11:21 AM (in response to on5lb)it does sound like a memory problem.
i can not find 0x771d886b error anywhere, are you sure that is the right error message?
how much memory do you have?

on5lb Mar 8, 2010 12:02 PM (in response to whytefly)Hello whytefly,
I'm afraid you're right.
But i checked the memry performance, and it's seams working fine, at a level of 7.6 for a possible maximum of 7.9 !
I remember receiving a message from nVIDIA, saying the latest driver upgrade can be responsable.
Maybe i should reinstall the previous driver.
For info, configuration of my main computer:
Asus P6T WS Professional motherboard
Intel i7 Extreme 3.2 GHz processor
Kingston Memory DDR3 12.0GB tripple 1600GHz
nVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 (1.5GB Memory)
VelociRaptor as Boot drive
Two Seagate SAS drives.
Windows 7 professional

on5lb Mar 8, 2010 12:12 PM (in response to John Joslin)Hi John,
Thank for your reaction,
But the problem is that i use a configuration where i need to open the logo via (Ctrl+V) because i have to open with the "Vanishing point" ?
Is that correct english ?
So, i cannot use the File > Place command, right ?
I have to take the time to check complete system, you know...Windows 7 (?) driving several applications.
I do have other computers, and will try on one still configured with Windows XP, and keep it so ! (with Photoshop CS3).
Have to find the time !
I'll let you know.
Regards,
Jean

whytefly Mar 8, 2010 12:19 PM (in response to on5lb)well you for sure have enough of everything to run PS efficently.
try and recreate the error and double check ther error message.
and i am pretty sure you do have to paste when you are using the vanishing point filter.

dec9 Mar 8, 2010 12:46 PM (in response to on5lb)The Nvidia driver you wrote about has caused many GPU failures do to heat. From what I read the cooling fan is not spinning or not spinning fast enough causing the GPU to overheat and fry itself.
That Quadro you have is not cheap to let it fry.

I downloaded and installed the latest one, date: february 21, 2010 (!)
I think i should better install the previous one.

Jeffb2009 Mar 9, 2010 3:53 AM (in response to on5lb)Hi Jean,
just a couple of thoughts - have you tried running PS with the OpenGL supoort off? may give a clue to graphics driver/card prob.
I have been one of those with a burnt out Nvidia card - 2 actually and have now switched to ATI...so far so good.
I have found on our systems the latest Nvidia drivers have caused a few nightmares with win7 64bit. If you can try rolling back the driver and see if that helps/changes
If that doesn't help, then you could remove half the RAM, see if the problem still exists, The idea is if the problem goes away then you possible have bad RAM (which you have just removed) if the problem still exists put that RAM back in and remove the other half and check again.
Have tracked down a defective RAM module in the past by removing and swapping around.
good luck
cheers

dec9 Mar 9, 2010 4:32 AM (in response to on5lb)Check for a update for the bios. Also check the bios to ensure the RAM timings match what the RAM can do (don't over clock) and also RAM voltage matches manufacturer voltage.
Sometimes when a lot of RAM is installed you have to slightly increase the RAM voltage to make it run correct too. I know when I went from 4 gigs to 8 gigs I had to increase the RAM voltage by .02 volts. By no means is this a rule and you may not need to do it but you need to check with the manufacturer to find out or look on the website.
