RH 8 with both patches installed, WinXP, WebHelp - RH freezes when I try to import a Word doc

I am using RH 8 with both patches installed and running Windows XP, generating WebHelp.  RH freezes when I try to import a Word doc.  The file is simple.  Just a list of phrases that I want to use as topic titles.  I thought I could import a Word doc file and then RH would parse it by style to create individual Help topics.  RH does not even start doing anything when I go through the import process.  It freezes and I have to got to file manager to kill RH.  I searched the RH forum but didn't see anything specific to a freeze before the import.  Thanks.
