Best way to move a huge project to French version

I've created an English RoboHelp HTML file with about 1000 topics. I'm about to receive translations. What is the best method for creating the French version? Should I make a copy of the English and rename it?  How long will this take (assuming all the project files will have to go through some robo-metamorphoses)? The project has LOTS of screen caps and prints out at about 650 pages.  I'm not in Robosource at the moment, but if I load both projects to Robosource in the future, will there be any confusion because they were split from the same egg, as it were?
