    Change cross references to text?

    RodneyA Community Member

I've got a file that uses cross-references to refer to page numbers in a different document, a published meeting program. I set these up as cross-references when the meeting program was being made, but it's now been printed, and is permanently final.

I want to provide the new document (the one that makes the cross-references) to a third party, and thought it would be wise to convert the page number cross-references to text, since the third party won't have the program meeting file with the markers, and if I provide it, it may misbehave on their system anyway for font issues or something. Unfortunately, there is no "convert cross references to text" command.

If I select a cross reference in the "Cross References" portion of the Hyperlink palette, and then choose "Delete Hyperlink/Cross Reference," I get a warning dialog box, stating that "if a cross reference is selected, it will be converted to text."

Oh, goody! Exactly what I want!

Except that the cross reference is not converted to correct text -- it changes from "page 288," as a cross reference, to "page 253" as text. It's giving me the page number that the cross reference is on, not the page number that the destination is on.

Is this just a bug I can't do anything about? Do I need to search for all of the cross references and retype them by hand?
