1. Re: Stereo track is only showing audio in left channel in multitrack view
SteveG(AudioMasters) Mar 28, 2010 10:36 AM (in response to Keano66)With both Edit and Multitrack views, you get options to select what's going to happen in terms of recording behaviour, and they don't have to be set the same way.
With any input, you get options that typically say [01S] (stereo) or [01M] (mono). In Multitrack view,if you select a stereo input, but only plug a mic into one input, then any recording you make will only be on the channel that the input is connected to, and not the other one. If you select a mono input, then all you will do is patch that particular input to a mono recorded channel if you record in mono.
In Edit view it's slightly different. If you select a mono input, but then elect to make a stereo recording, that mono input will be patched across both mono channels.
If you only have one microphone to plug in, there's absolutely no point in making stereo, or dual mono recordings anyway. All you are doing is doubling up on the same information.

2. Re: Stereo track is only showing audio in left channel in multitrack view
Keano66 Mar 31, 2010 2:10 AM (in response to SteveG(AudioMasters))Hey thanks Steve for replying and clarifying things for me. For most of my vocal recordings, I have recorded into a hard disk recorder (Roland VS1824) and then outputed via spdif to my computer. The resulting waveform was a stereo recording ie it showed both left and right channels. This is the first time that I have actually recorded directly into the computer via the inputs on an echo layla, thus my confusion. I shall now be recording my vocals in mono! Thanks again for your valuable insight.
