Bill Hunt Apr 3, 2010 7:13 AM (in response to nathapushpa)I believe that the free Audacity, will rip from CD, and do MP3. However, if you plan on doing anything more than just playing those MP3's on your iPod, I would NOT use MP3. Instead, rip and Save_As PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit, and then you have an uncompressed file to use as an Asset. MP3 compresses far too much of that 44.1KHz 16-bit signal, costing a great deal of the quality and also potentially causing issues, when you go to Import, or edit.
Also iTunes will rip your CD's, but has limitations on how you then handle that material. I'd do the ripping with Audacity.
Personally, I use Adobe Audition, and it works perfectly, but is anything but free.
Good luck,
Hunt
