Reading MS Word with CF

What terms am I looking for to be able to read a MS Word document and use it
to fill a form to be able insert the information into a database.

The best example I can think of is when you can upload a resume to a web
site and it them uses the document text to attempt to fill in an online form
to insert. (Monster, CareerBuilder, etc.)

Should I look under 'parsing'?

Anyone know a good place to find information on how to do this? I would
prefer to learn rather than buy an UDF or custom tag.

Do you want to search these word documents? Verity can index and search your word docs without mush fuss using the cfcollection, cfindex and cfsearch tags.

Or you may be able to access the Word COM object with ColdFusion like this documenation describes:
