Medium and Superscript don't show in Style Settings

ID CS4 6.0.4.578 on Windows XP. When I define a character style using New Character Style > Basic Character Formats > Font Style > Medium, Style Settings on the General tab shows [None], as if I had not yet chosen any style settings. Text formatted with the resulting character style seems to be affected appropriately (i.e., a style with Medium chosen will make italic text medium, even though General > Style Settings show only [None]). The same thing happens with Superscript or a combination of Superscript and Medium. Other Font Styles or Positions don't seem to be affected, although I've only tested a few.

I've trashed preferences, restarted Indesign, restarted the computer, and run my file through INX even though it happens in new and old files. This doesn't happen in CS3.

      Any ideas?
