P Spier Apr 5, 2010 9:32 AM (in response to Kenneth Benson)Hi Ken. Welcome back.
I'm not sure I'm following this correctly. Can you post screen grab?

2. Re: Medium and Superscript don't show in Style Settings
Kenneth Benson Apr 5, 2010 9:35 AM (in response to Kenneth Benson)In addition, CS4 files saved in INX and opened in CS3 show Style Settings properly (i.e., my Medium style shows "[None] + Medium"; my superscript style shows "[None] + superscript".

P Spier Apr 5, 2010 9:40 AM (in response to Kenneth Benson)Are you running SP2 or SP3? I Don't have a plain Medium in my weights list (must not have a font installed that uses it), only 65 Medium or Meium + some oterh attributer like extnded or condensed, and all of those seem to work normally, as does superscript.

Kenneth Benson Apr 5, 2010 9:46 AM (in response to P Spier)Sure.

This shows it correctly, in CS3. The same file opened in CS4 shows only [None].
You should be able to duplicate this (if you can duplicate it at all) simply by making a new character style based on None, then go to Basic Character Formats and choose Font Style: Medium.

5. Re: Medium and Superscript don't show in Style Settings
Kenneth Benson Apr 5, 2010 9:52 AM (in response to P Spier)SP3. Superscript works same as Medium. In a new file, make a new character style, choose nothing but Superscript, and then go back to the General tab. Mine continues to show [None], before okaying the style and after editing the style.
If you're not getting this, then there's something wrong with my machine/installation. Thanks for testing.

7. Re: Medium and Superscript don't show in Style Settings
Kenneth Benson Apr 5, 2010 10:08 AM (in response to P Spier)I tried it in a new user account and got strange results: Medium still refused to show, but Superscript decided to stop being shy. I still am not sure whether this is my problem or a bug.
Anyone using SP3 out there?
I'm going back to CS3 for this job.

P Spier Apr 5, 2010 10:39 AM (in response to Kenneth Benson)I found a version of Helvetica with a medium weight, and it that seems to work fine here, too.
Could be a SP3 problem?

16. Re: Medium and Superscript don't show in Style Settings
P Spier Apr 5, 2010 11:05 AM (in response to Kenneth Benson)Must have missed the medium inthe list the first time through -- I've got all of those installed already.
We'll just have to wait for someone with SP3...
