1. Re: Last line of table shifts to right slightly after export to PDF
P Spier Apr 12, 2010 11:06 AM (in response to Kenneth Benson)Hi Ken,
I can't seem to reproduce this here -- just emailed you an exported PDF from your file.
Silly question, but are you up to date with everything? I would say it isn't a file-specific problem since I used your file, but have you tried trashing your prefs to see if it helps?

P Spier Apr 12, 2010 11:08 AM (in response to Kenneth Benson)Do you have any custom dictionary or kerning or anything that might not have been embedded in the file?

3. Re: Last line of table shifts to right slightly after export to PDF
Kenneth Benson Apr 12, 2010 11:16 AM (in response to P Spier)It's not showing in the ID file, just in the exported PDF (and not in the printed PDF). And it shows in the PDF you made too, you just have to look at a higher magnification.
This is from the PDF you made and emailed to me. See how the bottom X is a little further to the right? Compare foot to foot, not head to foot. Minion X is narrower at the top.
Acrobat is at 9.3.1. I let the Adobe applications update themselves, so everything should be at the latest point release. No custom dictionary or kerning, though if there was, I would expect the ID file to show the same thing as the PDF.

P Spier Apr 12, 2010 11:26 AM (in response to Kenneth Benson)Just for the record, Ken informs me that I spoke too soon and my PDF also shows the shift. I just didn't zoom in enough to really see it. I'll file a bug, but it's not likely to get fixed for CS4.

Kenneth Benson Apr 12, 2010 11:48 AM (in response to P Spier)Thanks, Peter
I guess I'll print to PDF for the near future. Never having used Indesign this way, I'm not sure what gotchas I'm going to run into, and I'm coming to the end of the production cycle on this book so I don't want to throw some new mistake at them. Any that you know of?

P Spier Apr 12, 2010 12:03 PM (in response to Kenneth Benson)Just the usual transparency flattener issues that could result in stitching, bold type, and/or YDB syndrome, but I don't think any but the last would be a problem on press.
