    SD DVD at 24fps..?

    Mossotti Community Member

I posted this in the 'Lounge' but was advised to move it here..

I have a film that is being edited  in PrPro CS4. I am building the edit at 24 fps (film). This film needs  to go out in many formats including full 2k projection, Blu-Ray discs  and NTSC DVD.

For  the NTSC DVD Encore locks in a 29.97 fps. Is it possible to create a 24  fps DVD using Encore..?

Is your source footage HD?  If so, then I have 2 tutorials on my web site that give you options for creating SD DVDs from HD sources.  The HD to SD using CS4 tutorial demos the export settings in Pr that you'll need to create a DVD-legal, 24p .m2v file.  En should accept this exported .m2v file without wanting to transcode it again.

Here's the link to my tutorials: BDVS Tutorials

EDIT: the Pr export settings start at about the 3 1/2 minute mark of the CS4 HD to SD tutorial.

I believe this should help out. I am actually building the edit with raw frames from a compositing package and 3d software programs. This is an animated short film running about 12 minutes in length. The animation is built at film res (2048 x 1556) using a 185 common center frame chart. The end result will allow for me to adjust the size in my compositing package for HD,SD and depending on the film projector requirements a full resolution version and write the files as individual frames. (uncompressed in their proper resolutions)

It looks like once each file is brought back into Pr I will need to export them as .m2v files like you explain. This is where I believe I have my home work cut out for me. I will dive into your tutorials and get an idea of the workflow you talk about.

            I appreciate the help !!!
