Hi,

Wonder if anyone on here could help me.  We have a volume license for Adobe Captivate 3 and it is installed and working fine on several XP machines.  However when I try and install the same software, with the same serial number that has been accepted everywhere else, but on a Windows 7 machine, it no longer see's the serial number as valid...

Help!?

Hi there

For starters, I'd be surprised if Captivate 3 even will work on Windows 7. You didn't say which version of Windows 7 you have. Is it Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate?

If it's Professional or Ultimate, you will probably need to download and install the Windows Virtual Machine and the Windows XP Mode for Windows Virtual Machine in order to run Captivate 3 successfully.

Cheers... Rick

Thanks for your reply Rick, much appreciated.

Sorry my post was indeed lacking in some information haha.  It's Windows 7 Professional.  I'll give your suggestion a go and hope for the best.  The program itself seems to work (it worked during the 30 day trial although it wasn't used extensively) just the issue with the serial number.  I've no idea why it would not recognise the serial number due to an OS, surely the serial number is linked into the installation itself and not linked to the OS?

I have a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit and want to install Captivate 3. The laptop doesn't have an optical drive. I have a license for Captivate 3 for my old XP laptop. How can I download a trial version of Captivate 3 and will it install and work on my new laptop if I do?

Thanks,

Ilene

Hi Ilene

I'd be astounded if Captivate 3 were to install and properly work on Windows 7 64 bit. I say this because Captivate 4 seems to have issues with it.

Captivate 5 will be the first Windows 7 64 bit compatible versio we will see.

Cheers... Rick

Hi there

Sorry, but I'm not clear on what you want to know. Are you asking if moving to 5 from 3 is considered an upgrade and therefore qualifies for upgrade pricing from Adobe? If so, you will need to ask Adobe Sales on that. If you are asking about how to go about upgrading a Captivate 3 project so it becomes a Captivate 5 project, it's pretty tough to accomplish.

First you have to open Captivate 5.

Once Captivate 5 is open you open the Captivate 3 project.

The Captivate 3 project is converted to a Captivate 5 project.

Cheers... Rick
