1. Re: Stroke Gradation n Rounded Corners issue
Monika Gause Apr 22, 2010 4:34 AM (in response to maheshwar26)To retain the radius you should apple the rounded corner by other means. Use a rectangle for a start and then add Effect > Stylize > Round corner.
You can't have a gradient in the stroke. Instead use the appearance panel to add a second fill under the existing fill. Apply Effect > Path > Offset Path (use the stroke width as the value there) and then apply a gradient to it

Maybe it will get clearer with this screenshot:

You can add fills with the button in the bottom of the palette or
using the palette's menu

Wade_Zimmerman Apr 22, 2010 7:52 AM (in response to Monika Gause)Monica's way making the gradient stroke a new fill is one I did not think of but would like it known that aligning the objects you might want to turn on the Use Preview Bounds or it will align everything to the original path which is not always desirable when aligning objects that have effects.
This is a very good use of the appearance panel Monica.

There is another way of retaining the round corners when resizing, rather simple, and almost as you attempted it if you use the Transform palette/panel, having one of the leftmost Reference Points selected and changing the H value:
Just drag the Direct Selection Tool over the rounded corners to the right, including all Anchor Points, instead of using the Selection Tool on the path; you may do similarly for vertical change.

maheshwar26 Apr 22, 2010 8:41 AM (in response to Jacob Bugge)Jacob,
Thanks for reply.
I have been doing the same way all there days, but Monika's answer made it even simple than selecting all anchor points n resizing. Infact its always a pain to keep on worrying if all anchor points got selected or not!!
Instead of making round corners from 'Filter' menu, make it by selecting in 'Effect' menu. The round corners will be relative how ever the object is dragged
Thanks
