1. Re: HMC150 Footage ok in PProCS4, but grey when viewing via Win Media Player
Jeff Bellune Apr 23, 2010 8:00 AM (in response to skeeze)What AVCHD decoder is installed on your system? What operating system are you using?

pebalsamo Apr 23, 2010 8:02 AM (in response to skeeze)Download VLC player. It is free and it will play the AVCHD files from the 150.

skeeze Apr 23, 2010 8:10 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune)Good question, sorry I should have included all of that information.
I am running on an HPZ800 dual quad core with 36GB of RAM using PPRo CS4 (latest version) on Windows 64 bit. I am not exactly sure which codec is going to be used in this case because I believe that there are 3 possible ones that could be used. It appears that PPro is using it's own AVCHD codec which is probably why it works fine. Windows 7 natively recognizes AVCHD, but I have two utilities installed on my system to download content from my cameras that may have also installed Codec's. The first is one from Canon that comes with their camera's (in this case the HV30, that downloads AVCHD also), and the 2nd is the AVCCam application that comes with the Panasonic HMC150 to download content from that camera. The AVCHD files from my Canon play just fine through Windows Media Player or Premiere Pro, but the HMC150 files only play in full color in Premiere Pro, not through Windows Media Player. I agree it might be codec related, but not exactly sure the best way to track down the problem. Thanks in advance for the help.

skeeze Apr 23, 2010 8:15 AM (in response to pebalsamo)Thanks, my only concern with that is while I can play it on my computer, when I stream the media to my PS3 (which streams through WMP). I haven't tried it yet however. I also wonder if I post the media on the web if it will also end up being grey.

pebalsamo Apr 23, 2010 8:48 AM (in response to skeeze)Let me know how that works. I have not tried streaming anything that was AVCHD to my PS3. I have XP and Vista at home and have not wanted to mess with trying to get WMP to play AVCHD. When ever I have wanted to watch anyhting I shot on my PS3 I have just plugged the card into it. It will paly just fine. Obviously not edited or as convienent...

6. Re: HMC150 Footage ok in PProCS4, but grey when viewing via Win Media Player
skeeze Apr 24, 2010 12:57 PM (in response to pebalsamo)Downloaded the VLC player and a couple of others as well and all of them have the same result. The only one that plays with color is when it is in PPRo and all the others cut most of the colors out. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like in a player (top), vs. in premiere pro. What is really confusing me is that I can export the Video to MGEG2 for DVD or 720P and when playing back it also does not show the colors...and that should be a different codec altogether...strange indeed.
is anyone else running with the HMC150 on windows 7 64 bit and having success?
