Taverino Apr 29, 2010 2:56 PM (in response to David Zeno)Have you tried the multi-camera monitor?

shooternz Apr 29, 2010 2:55 PM (in response to David Zeno)Is camera one and camera two footage in continuous takes ?
If so.. I think I would put my Master Camera on the timeline and I would put my second camera in the source monitor. Synch them up then gang the monitors.
I would then edit by using in /out points to drop camera two onto a Video Track above the Camera one track at points you need a cutaway.
Worry about transitions after you are satisfied with your "cut" edit.

David Zeno Apr 29, 2010 5:26 PM (in response to Taverino)Hi Traverino, I haven't tried this method out yet, because one of my video sources is AVCHD, ( the other is tape ), but I've heard that multi-cam monitor is very slow, even with a quad core. I will try this tomorrow, thanks for the suggestion, it may work out for me.

David Zeno Apr 29, 2010 5:30 PM (in response to shooternz)Hi ShooterNZ,
Yes, both cameras took continuous footage, so I have 2 timelines, with a good length of video in each.
I now have the video synced, but I don't understand what you mean by "gang " the monitors, can you explain that for me when
you have a ittle time, that would be appreciated.
So you are saying to watch the footage from camera 2 in the source monitor, instead of playing the video directly on video track 2, and splicing
out what I don't want directly from there. ( ? ) if I am understanding you correctly. And yes, a good idea about doing the transitions after, as there's no need to do that quite yet - good tip.
thanks,
Dave

5. Re: 2 camera scenerio - how do I render effeciently cam1 then cam 2 ?
shooternz Apr 29, 2010 6:50 PM (in response to David Zeno)In the drop down menu on the monitors is an option to GANG the Monitors.
That means that when you play (or scrub)( one of the monitors, the other maintains synch and follows the playback frame for frame. This allows you to find a shot you would like to drop over the master shot very easily.
TiP: Place a Marker on the timeline and the Source monitor clip at a few duraytions so you can check your synch alignment.

Christian Jolly Apr 30, 2010 3:48 AM (in response to David Zeno)I would definitely recommend the multicamera editing approach in PPro. If it doesn't work for your footage, don't do it again. I personally have no problem with the multicamera features being sluggish (quad core, 8 GB RAM).
Also, instead of adjusting opacity in and out at each camera change, you could use the crossfade transition. Not sure if you're aware of that. Much faster. Set it as your default video transition (if it's not already) and just hit CTRL+D at each clip edge or cut. Also, you can select all your clips on the timeline when you are done and select "Apply Default Transitions to Selection" from the Sequence menu up top. Then it'll just do them all at once.
