John Joslin May 1, 2010 12:22 AM (in response to Kid PPS)It's about time you got a version of Windows that supports Photoshop!

2. Re: Were to download AllowGLXP64_ON for CS5?
Kid PPS May 1, 2010 3:21 AM (in response to John Joslin)I prefer to stay with the non bloated XP x64.
Thanks for your “help”.
I edited the registry my self and was able to enable, now it is working very well.
If anyone is interested, here the key...
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Photoshop\12.0]
"AllowGLXP64"=dword:00000001

Kid PPS May 1, 2010 5:11 AM (in response to tjhb)Thanks
Here just the "AllowGLXP64"=dword:00000001 was enough for the advanced mode.

5. Re: Were to download AllowGLXP64_ON for CS5?
tjhb May 1, 2010 5:32 AM (in response to Kid PPS)That's interesting, thanks. My spare machine has an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS. There may be a good reason why that is not fully supported.
It's a pain that they didn't manage to fix the taskbar issue in XP x64, isn't it? Not that it makes a difference really. Just aesthetic.

6. Re: Were to download AllowGLXP64_ON for CS5?
Kid PPS May 1, 2010 6:19 AM (in response to tjhb)You are welcome, here it is a Nvidia GT240 + driver 197.45, but the Windows is 100% clean/fresh.
What is this “taskbar issue” ?

7. Re: Were to download AllowGLXP64_ON for CS5?
tjhb May 1, 2010 6:34 AM (in response to Kid PPS)(Mine is 100% clean too, from an image.)
Sorry, the taskbar issue should have been called the menu bar issue. If you choose Help | About Photoshop, for example (many other operations produce the same effect), and then resume normal operation, the menu bar has a faint horizontal line through it, and the application Close button is duplicated and displaced. Only on Windows XP x64 as far as I know.

Kid PPS May 1, 2010 7:53 AM (in response to tjhb)Strange, I do not see this behavior here...
I do not remember 100% now, but here is a slipstreamed version with SP2 and maybe some updates and also using this theme http://tornado5.deviantart.com/art/Luna-Element-5-0-5-29511577

9. Re: Were to download AllowGLXP64_ON for CS5?
Chris Cox May 1, 2010 12:30 PM (in response to Kid PPS)Folks, there is a reason we don't list XP 64 as a supported platform (well, actually, a few dozen reasons): it has bugs that MS is not going to fix, but are fixed in Vista 64 and Windows 7 64bit.
Not everything is going to work on XP 64, and using the GL issues is definitely "at your own risk".

10. Re: Were to download AllowGLXP64_ON for CS5?
Gary Edstrom Jun 3, 2010 2:54 PM (in response to tjhb)I am seeing the very same faint horizontal line through the menu bar and the duplicated and displaced minimize/maximize/close buttons.
I am running CS5 under XP, but saw the identical problem under CS4.
Still have not found a solution.

Noel Carboni Jun 3, 2010 4:58 PM (in response to Gary Edstrom)Hate to say it, but the advice given above to upgrade to a newer OS was good - if a bit abruptly given.
You really do need to move up to a modern operating system.
Call XP "unbloated" all you want, but Windows 7 quite often runs things better than XP on similar hardware. It has better disk caching, better display management, a better security model, and is actually quite a bit more robust than XP. XP could not be run hard for months without a reboot, but this can be accomplished with Windows 7.
You may well find it painful moving from XP to Windows 7. You'll wonder why they changed some things, and eliminated others. Staying with XP through Vista means that the shock will be doubled. However, at the end of the day there are ways to configure Windows 7 and download handy apps that can make it a more productive environment than XP ever was.
