I'm new to Captivate and can't seem to get the Text to Speech function to work.

We received the eLearning Suite on DVD so I don't know if that is part of my problem.

Also can someone explain to me how the Close Caption Feature works.

Thank you,

Susan Wright

Hi Susan

Please check out the thread below for Text To Speech

Closed Captioning is a bit more involved. Here are the way over simplified steps:

  1. Add some audio narration at slide level.
  2. Click speaker icon in Film Strip and choose Closed Captioning.
  3. Add and synchronize Closed Captioning.

I've tried again but this time when I try to download from the Adobe Captivate page I get an error.  My company bought this on DVD.  On DVD 2 there is a goodies file that I've put with the rest of the adobe folders and hoped that would work but it didn't. The goodies file has the Neo Speech exe file in it.

Spent most of the day trying and still no luck.

Hi again

Perhaps we need more information. What is happening? Do you try Text To Speech and you see a message that it's not installed? Or does it appear to work then fail somehow?

Cheers... Rick

Well here is what is occuring. I have a project in Captivate open. It has slide notes. When I click convert to speech a message box shows up Titled Download Adobe Captivate voices. It says Text to speech voices are not installed on your system. Please install using the Captivate DVD or download them from Adobe Captivate Product Page. When I select the download button another popup comes up and says to navigate to the Adobe Captivate page. This happens even when I have the DVD with the Goodies in teh computer. I thought that might have been a step I'd missed.

I've tried taking the files from the online link in the tutorial and also putting the goodies folder in the captivate file. None of this seems to have worked.

Hello.  I am having this problem because the file is not installed. I get the message

"text to speech voices are not installed on your computer.  Please  install using the Captivate DVD or download them from the Adobe  Captivate product page."

When I click on the link it takes me to an Adobe Captivate 5 page.  Is this file still available?

Hi Susan,

Run the NeoSpeech.exe and relaunch Captivate. This should install the voices and should list them inside Captivate.

Does this work. Let me know

Thanks
