    Uninstall not working

    rlafoto1 Community Member

      Hi All,

I am using Windows 7 and 64 bit.  I am replacing CS4 Web Premium, CS4 Premiere Pro, CS4 InDesign with the CS5 Master Suite. I have deactivated the CS4 programs to give to a friend.

I cannot uninstall Premiere Pro or InDesign (have not tried to uninstall CS4 Web Premium) using "uninstall or change a program" from the computer control panel.  Can I load CS5 Master on top of these programs since it is not an update or should I figure out how to remove them beforehand?

      Thanks

Before you "give" that software to a friend, you'll need to fill out a license transfer form and

          send it to Adobe.

As for your issue, you say you can't uninstall but you don't say what happens when you try.

            Hi Bob,

            The following message comes up:

            "Adobe Setup has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I am trying to preemptive - I have had trouble installing CS2, CS3, and CS4...

I am going (unless you have another suggestion) go through technote http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403952.html protocols tomorrow...

            Thanks,

            Randy

there is a program Adobe CS4 Clean Script.  This helps to remove some of the lingering stuff after an uninstall that may interfere with a new installation.  Had to use this when migrating different versions to different computers.  It may, or may not, work for this issue.

Why do they call it UNINSTALL when it really does not?  Not just Adobe, but many of the Windows software producers.

I went through every step of the technote listed in my last post and nothing worked.  The CS4 Clean Script worked and removed all but "Onlocation", Adobe Extend Script Tool Kit CS4, and Adobe Extension Manager CS4.

CS5 arrives tomorrow and hopefully will load OK?

                Thanks,
