This ought to keep you busy for some time. Although some of the links are somewhat dated, not very much has really changed and the majority still holds. When you have read them all, you will know exactly what to buy or build.
If you have any questions left, please post them here.

I´ve read the links above, very interesting information.
I don´t know anything about overclocking, but would like to ask about one simple question:
it says the i7 920 is designed to work only with DDR3-800/1066 memory types.
So the question is, if I use 1333 memory and only set the memory multiplier in the BIOS so it displays 1333, will it work at 1333 or will be lowered back to 1066?. Or do I need to overclock the CPU to use 1333 memory speed, right?.
that CPU will work with DDR 2000
ignore what intels website says!
it all depends on what motherboard is used and what ram is used as to what timings you can get.
all our systems run @ 1600 aside from Xeons, which change depending on ram amount.
Ok. My current system is:
i7 920 + Gigabyte EX58-UD4P motherboard + 6GB 1333
My BIOS settings are default, with EIST and C1E disabled and:
CPU Clock Ratio: 20x -> 2,66GHz
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) : 10 -> Memory Freq (MHz): 1333
I mean, with this settings does the memory work at 1333, or do I have to overclock the CPU?.
it should be
