FB4 install/launch issues

Hi,

I'm trying to install FB4 on OS 10.6.3. When I try to install the stand-alone version, the initialization progress bar completes and disappears, and then Adobe Application Manager stops responding (I gave it 5-10 minutes to chew and gnaw). I checked the ~/Library/Logs/Adobe/Installer folder afterward but the only entry was from when I installed CS3 Suite a couple months ago.

I had a pre-release version of FB 4 installed which I uninstalled. (I'm currently installing the release build off the DVD.) I also nuked any other CS4 products installed using the CS4 license cleaner tool. Restarted, etc. App Manager still hangs after a short time.

I am able to install the FB4 plug-in version (using bundled Eclipse), but when I try to create a new Flex project I get a runtime error (with error description "Error"). I attached the workspace log file for that project. Also, when I try to serialize my copy, the the licensing dialog takes my serial number (get the green check mark), but each time I launch the plugin I get the dialog again, as if it never took my number at all.

Any ideas?

Hi Tim,

I looked at the workspace log you attached, but aside from the vague NPEs, nothing familiar jumped out from there. If you look in your tmp folder (/private/tmp/), do you find oobelib.log, or an amt3.log?

Also, to rule out permission problems that might be blocking this, have you already tried running Apple's Disk Utility, to see if using its Repair Permissions tool helps at all?

Hi Chris, thanks for the reply.

I ran Repair Permissions on my HD and it made numerous repairs. I was hopeful but following a restart I ran the SA installer again and got the same results: initialization dialog/progress bar completes, disappears, and then Adobe App Manager stops responding.

(I was going to attach the oobelib.log file you mentioned to this thread, like I did for the last log file, but I no longer see a way to attach/upload files to my posts. Strange. Anyway, I've copied the contents below.

After uninstalling CS3 and running the CS3 clean script, the FB4 installer is working now.
