Tai Lao May 27, 2010 9:31 PM (in response to El Gu man)Just to elaborate: I have all versions of Photoshop since v 7.0.1 through 11.0.1 (CS4) installed on my machine.
To run more than one version simultaneously, I just launch the older version(s) first.
Can't vouch for CS5 since it won't run on my PPC machine.

David Dobish May 27, 2010 9:51 PM (in response to El Gu man)Yes they can live side by side just fine.

4. Re: Can I run CS5 alongside CS4?
Tai Lao May 27, 2010 10:05 PM (in response to El Gu man)If you do run them simultaneously, you might want to set the respective primary scratch disk for each version on separate volumes, though, just as a precaution.

5. Re: Can I run CS5 alongside CS4?
370H55V May 28, 2010 2:06 AM (in response to Tai Lao)I have CS4 and CS5 installed, but I've not run them at the same time.
I try not to do that because one time I opened two different versions of iTunes, and man, did it screw up my library.
I'd rather not take that chance with photos I'm editing for a website.

6. Re: Can I run CS5 alongside CS4?
El Gu man May 28, 2010 4:52 AM (in response to 370H55V)Thanks to everyone. Maybe I should I have been a bit more descriptive: I did not mean to say that I would have both CS4 and CS5 running at the same time. I meant to say that having both versions installed on the same machine, be able to run one or the other.

Photoshop does not use a "libraries" or "library" paradigm like iTunes. Lightroom does, though.

8. Re: Can I run CS5 alongside CS4?
David Dobish May 28, 2010 8:12 AM (in response to El Gu man)I have every version back to CS1 installed on my testing machines. They all are able to be installed/run seperately on the same machine. Hope this helps.

9. Re: Can I run CS5 alongside CS4?
370H55V May 28, 2010 11:02 AM (in response to El Gu man)As long as you have HD space for them, I have multiple builds of multiple apps on my Mac HD.
Adobe, Office, Bento, Filemaker, Browsers, etc.
That's the beauty of Cocoa apps. Unlike Windows Registry oriented programs, they can and do run side by side.

10. Re: Can I run CS5 alongside CS4?
SpenserM Jun 23, 2010 3:54 AM (in response to 370H55V)Only issue I have had when rnning both is Acrobat 9 stopped working. I can't install anew to repair it as it tell me that
I already have a superior product installed and terminates the install. I can't uninstall all of Acrobat 9
without uninstalling the enite CS4 or CS5 suites. Bad software design.,
