1. Re: Prep suggestions for CS5 install?
Hisham Attia May 28, 2010 10:02 PM (in response to The Real Thorzdad)Hi Jim
I would back up my files (or even you could clone your hard drive) before un- & re-installing. In this way you are assured that if you are missing something you will be able to find it. CS-->CS5 is so different that the SW wouldn't even bother to share any resources. I would completely uninstall my CS and install CS5. CS5 is intel only and cocoa native, while CS is neither of that. So your SW will run like new. Having said that, I would check - in case you have extra plugins, brushes or other things - with 3rd party providers if their stuff is CS5 compatible. 3rd party plugins may not always work, location of brushes changes, ...etc. These are the 'minor' things that may pop up, but your SW as such should be fine.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
Hisham

The Real Thorzdad May 29, 2010 6:36 AM (in response to Hisham Attia)Thanks, Hisha.
When you say "completely uninstall", are you also including the Adobe folders under MacHD>Library>Application Support, and User>Library>Application Support?

3. Re: Prep suggestions for CS5 install?
Hisham Attia May 29, 2010 7:13 AM (in response to The Real Thorzdad)Yes. I clean up the whole thing including my preferences. Which means I have to set them up again in CS5 - so that is a bit of work for you.
I can't exactly remember if there was an uninstaller in CS (check in Adobe's Folders or on the installer CD), but if there is one, it will clean up the app suite for you.
cheers
Hisham
PS: Back up your files or clone the HD, if you wish, to be always able to go to the status before the install.

4. Re: Prep suggestions for CS5 install?
The Real Thorzdad May 29, 2010 7:26 AM (in response to Hisham Attia)No, there is no uninstaller. The install CDs have a ReadMe that says to
manually remove the apps.
I make regular backups, so that part has been covered.
Thanks, again, for the help!
Jim
