Using Alt+Drag to Copy A Layer

    Shan-Dysigns Community Member

When I'm make a copy of a layer by using the Alt key and left-click dragging, the copied layer is placed above the current layer. Is there a way to make this copied layer below the current layer (without having to manually move it below)?

The same question applies towards copy/paste pixels. Everything seems to be added above (which I can understand that reasoning), but for the majority of why I would use alt+drag to make copies of layers, I want those layers placed below the current layer.

      Thanks in advance.

I just alt drag the actual layer in the layer palette--highlight the one you want to duplicate, press alt, then drag towards the bottom of the screen. The layer duplicates under the one you dragged. Probably not exactly what you were wishing for as a solution, but it does work...

Actually, that method gets the end-result I wanted. I got so used to doing most everything on the canvas, I didn't think about the layers palette in that sense (I just needed to be refreshed on that option).

Thanks... I guess for the copy/paste (I can easily just use the keyboard shortcut to move the layer down).
